Redesigning the UI of IRCTC platform

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is a part of Indian Railways that controls the online ticketing service, catering and tourism services of Indian Railways.

Founded in the 1990s with their first ever website https://www.irctc.co.in/ came to light in August 2002. Since then, the online business grew which made a huge impact on the ticketing system market, the company serves about 415,000 customers (average) using the online portal on a daily basis.

Even though the customer base began to grow at an exponential rate, the company still monetized its platform with various adverts. As of 2017–18, the website looked like this:

As we can see, roughly 40% of the portal is covered with adverts. Over the years, there were multiple complaints by users whenever they tried to access the platform, they could see unequivocal content in the adverts which sometimes made the website look like a virus page. Although they saved themselves smartly by pointing out the user cookies in the browser, it is undeniable that a professional public platform could be redesigned in a better way.
